ISC Physical Education class - 11
Physical education is now being accepted as a curricular
activity in schools controlled by central education boards in pursuance of the
National Policy on Education and the National Sports Policy. Some States also
have fallen in line with the central policy but in most states the picture is
not very bright as far as physical education as a subject, is concerned. For
instance, the pupil-teacher ratio for physical education in schools is far from
satisfactory; time table allotted for physical education programme per class
per week is simply negligible; and the intramural contests are either not held
or if held, it is for name sake. Physical education is yet to become a
“required” programme for all including those physically challenged.
